SecureLine from Avast! is a virtual private network (VPN) application designed to provide secure internet access from unsecured public Wi-Fi hotspots. It's been a chargeable extra in Avast! AntiVirus for a while, but the company has now launched it as a standalone product. It's available for Windows, iOS and Android devices, with a single-year, single-user licence costing £45 for Windows PCs and £15 for mobile devices. Although it’s not expressly aimed at business users, it clearly has the potential to protect any mobile workers who use airport, cafĂ© and other hotspots, whether they are secured or not.

users should be protected from evesdropping or snooping by other users
on the same Wi-Fi network. There are other advantages, too. When
connected to the VPN, the user's internet traffic will appear to
originate from the SecureLine server, which can help provide a degree of
anonymity online.
